Andrew Mattarella-Micke
Background
Andrew is a first year doctoral student in the Cognition Program. A graduate of Michigan State University, he received his B.S. in Statistics and Psychology in 2005. Andrew's honor thesis, under the supervision of Dr. Zach Hambrick, focused on the relationship between domain specific knowledge and visuospatial memory using chess as a representative task.
Research Interest
- The role of individual differences in attentional control and expertise in the acquisition and application of knowledge.
- Experimental and ecological contexts that obstruct skilled performance, such as pressure and math anxiety
- The application of cognitive neuroscience to the field of education
