Background

I am currently a doctoral student in the Cognitive Psychology program at the University of Chicago.

I graduated from UCLA in 2005 with a Bachelor's of Science in Cognitive Science with a Specialization in Computing. While at UCLA, I worked with Dr. Robert Bjork, Dr. Don Mackay, and Dr. Russ Poldrack primarily studying memory. After graduating from UCLA, I took a job as a lab manager at UCI to work with Dr. Lindsey Richland and Dr. Elizabeth Loftus. At UCI, I conducted research involving analogical reasoning as well as false memories.

Research Interest

I am primarily interested in the fallibility of memory including the creation of illusory memories, memory distortions, and forgetting. My current research projects are investigating the distinctiveness heuristic in autobiographical memories, the role that working memory plays in retrieval of source information and retrieval monitoring strategies. I plan on looking at both the behavioral effects and neural origins of memory errors through neuroimaging. Other topics of interest include source memory, effects of emotion in memory, memory retention, and retrieval-induced forgetting.
