Katie Bowen

Background

Katie is currently a student in the Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences at U of C. She graduated from Colgate University in 2004 with a B.A. in psychology. During her senior year she studied the role of embodied cognition in language learning under the guidance of Spencer Kelly.

For the past three years, Katie worked as a market research analyst, developing and analyzing survey research. Through her professional experience with public opinion polling, she became interested in studying attitude strength and attitude change.

Research Interests

Katie has joined the Visser Lab because her of her desire to gain a greater understanding of attitudes and persuasion. In addition to assisting with various projects, Katie is working with Penny to examine the role of social network features on attitude change and attitude strength. This research is part of a larger NSF funded project examining a variety of factors that may influence attitude change including life-stage, self-efficacy, and social roles.

Beyond the Lab

In her spare time, Katie enjoys cooking and learning about wine. She is also a loyal Boston Red Sox fan!
