Liz Majka
Background
Liz graduated with a B.A. in psychology from Beloit College (WI) in 2003 and an M.A. in social sciences (emphasis social psychology) from the University of Chicago in 2007.
Prior to earning her M.A., she served as a Teaching Assistant for Experimental Psychology at UW-Madison, taught Introductory Psychology at Beloit College, and collaborated on a number of projects with researchers at UW-Madison. Currently, she serves as the Visser Lab manager at the University of Chicago.
Liz hopes to enter a Ph.D. progam in social psychology in the fall of 2008.
Research Interests
Although Liz is interested in a wide range of topics, she is currently pursuing a project with Penny Visser exploring the impact of social connectedness on attitude strength. With Ayelet Fishbach, a professor in the business school, she is examining the circumstances under which indirect & direct social strategies might be viewed as substitutes (vs. complements).
Beyond the Lab
Outside of the lab, Liz enjoys watching movies, exploring restaurants, and just relaxing with her husband Yash, their dog Sadie (a chubby black pug), their cat Elbee (an orange Tabby) and the newest addition to their family--a crazy torti kitten named Zoey. She also regularly hangs with her family in various Chicago suburbs. When time permits, Liz likes to play soccer, do crafts, and get some extra sleep.
