Ivo Gyurovski
Background
Ivo graduated from Hampden-Sydney College with honors in Psychology and Economics. Prior to his doctoral studies at the University of Chicago Ivo earned a Master’s degree from the College of William and Mary. His research there identified the effects of expectancy violations on early attentional ERP components (N1 and N2). His thesis provided evidence for differential implicit associations between majority and minority groups and their corresponding stereotype content.
Research Interests
- Social Neuroscience (EEG and fMRI)
- Social Cognition
- Person and Status Perception
- Perception of Social Status Inconsistencies
- Expectancy Violation
- Stereotyping, Prejudice
Ivo is currently working with Dr. Cloutier on two main lines of research. Broadly speaking, the first line of research aims to identify the brain regions recruited during social status perception and the effects of perceiver’s own status. The second area of research employs ERPs to study the time course of expectancy violations in regard to political beliefs when conflict monitoring is induced, relative to the times when it is not.
