Elizabeth (Liz) Majka


Background

Liz was born and raised in LaGrange, Illinois—a suburb of Chicago. She earned a B.A. in psychology at Beloit College (WI), an M.A. in social sciences (Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences) at the University of Chicago, and an M.A. in social psychology at the University of Chicago.

Liz is currently an advanced PhD student in the social psychology program at the University of Chicago working with John Cacioppo, Penny Visser, and Nick Epley. She also collaborates with a number of graduate and undergraduate students.

Beyond research, Liz enjoys working closely with undergraduates through her role as the Psychology Department Preceptor and as the graduate student advisor of Psi Chi (University of Chicago's psychology club).

After earning her PhD, Liz hopes to secure a faculty position at a liberal arts college where she can continue balancing her interests in teaching, research, and service.

Beyond School

Outside of school, Liz enjoys watching movies, sewing, reading novels, and relaxing with her husband and pets (a chubby black pug and two cats). She also regularly visits with her family in the Chicago suburbs.
