Rebecca Rosen

Background

Rebecca is a student in the department's Doctoral Program in Social Psychology. Her advisor is Dr. Kimberly Rios and she works in the Visser/Rios lab. Rebecca received a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Miami in 2005.

Research Interests

In one line of research, Rebecca studies attitude change regarding sociopolitical issues. She is interested in investigating the factors that affect openness to change in political attitudes and the factors that affect the persuasiveness of messages about sociopolitical issues. She is currently conducting studies that examine the effects of minority opinion status on openness to attitude change and the potential threat of holding a minority opinion. In another line of research, Rebecca is examining the aspects of one's identity that can affect ingroup and outgroup perceptions. Future studies will likely concern group processes, individual perceptions of one's ingroup, minority opinion, and political psychology.
