Shannon Heald is an Assistant Instructional Professor in the Department of Psychology and the College. She teaches in the College’s Mind sequence and classes in Psychology, including Concepts and Categories, Introduction to Statistical Concepts and Methods, and The Psychology of Problem-Solving. In addition to teaching, she is also passionate about involving undergraduates in all aspects of the research process. Her own research focuses on how our past experiences and/or goals guide our attention and the effect this has on perception, communication, learning, and solution-finding behavior.

Anne Henly is a Senior Instructional Professor in the Department of Psychology and the College. She is the director of Undergraduate Studies and the founding director of the Undergraduate Research Initiative in Psychology (URIP), a program she developed to promote the involvement of undergraduates in the research process as an integral part of their education. Her own research investigates how we use language to communicate and its effects on thinking.

Alysson Light

Associate Instructional Professor of Psychology

Alysson Light is an Associate Instructional Professor in Psychology and the College, and PI of the Undergraduate Social Psychology Lab. The USP supports undergraduate-led research in social psychology broadly, and through it Alysson collaborates with students on topics ranging from stereotyping/ prejudice to social identity to well-being. Alysson’s own research explores the question of why people desire a clear, consistent, and coherent self-concept. She explores interactions between the self-concept, goal pursuit, and personal relationships.
