Background

Mitchell received his BA in philosophy from UC Berkeley. After leaving Berkeley, he studied evolutionary psychology under Leda Cosmides and John Tooby at UCSB.

Research Interests

Mitchell is interested in a number of disparate areas including but not limited to the evolution of consciousness, morality, cooperation, reason, and emotion. Broadly speaking, his main focus is to uncover and map the various specialized mental mechanisms that allow us to think, feel, interact, and behave as we do.
