About the Prize
The Health and Society program hosts an annual thesis prize competition for the best undergraduate thesis or capstone project written about a topic that explores health and/or medicine from a social sciences perspective, broadly conceived. Two prizes will be awarded to BA theses that exemplify the highest qualities of originality, disciplinary rigor, and relevance to health and society.
The thesis prize competition is supported by the Bucksbaum Institute for Clinical Excellence, the University of Chicago Division of Social Sciences, and the University of Chicago Social Sciences Collegiate Division.
Two prizes will be awarded at $500 each.
Eligibility
- Students enrolled in any program of study in the College are encouraged to apply.
- Submissions should be a thesis or capstone paper written to satisfy a degree requirement in a major. We will not accept papers written for the explicit purpose of submitting to the thesis competition.
Application Requirements & Submission Details
To submit a thesis for consideration, please:
- Fill out the online BA Thesis Submission Form and upload a copy of your thesis;
- Have your thesis adviser or BA preceptor submit a letter of recommendation via the online recommender form
