Background

Aneesa is a doctoral student in the Developmental Psychology program, working with Katherine Kinzler. She received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2022, where she completed her honors thesis in Mahesh Srinivasan’s Language and Cognitive Development Lab. After graduation, she worked as the lab manager in Hyowon Gweon’s Social Learning Lab at Stanford University.

Research Interests

Aneesa is interested in how young children reason about their own and others’ competence and abilities. She is particularly interested in how children’s inferences about competence impacts their decisions and learning, and how this inferential machinery scales from individuals to social groups.
