Background 

Chao is a doctoral student working with Daniel Margoliash. Before joining UChicago, he worked as a Research Technician at Wellesley College after receiving an undergraduate degree in psychology from Wake Forest University in 2021 and master's in quantitative methods from Columbia University in 2023.

Research Interests

Chao is interested in using Zebra Finch as an animal model to investigate questions in auditory learning and processing. He plans to focus on the roles of neurogenesis and female finches' social feedback in the learning process.
