Background

Sophia is a doctoral student in the Integrative Neuroscience program working with Brian Prendergast and Leslie Kay. She graduated from Carleton College in 2025 with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in European Studies. At Carleton, Sophia studied female sexual motivation and dysfunction, as well as gender-affirming hormone therapy, under Dr. Sarah Meerts. 

Research Interests

Sophia is interested in how sex differences contextualize experience-induced changes in animal behavior. She hopes to further investigate the relationship between neuroendocrinology and the environment as it relates to the development of arousal and reward mechanisms, especially in females.
